UCI revealed the 2011 Pro Tour calendar which have been adjusted so all the "Classiques" races, the Pro tour races and the great races are well dated so racers can participate to the end of season classics in great shape.
26 races from January till October.
The races that have been moved are the Grand Prix de Plouay (august 8th), Vuelta d'Espana (August 20 to Sept.11th), the Eneco (8 to 14th of August).
A new race is added, it is the "Tour e Pékin" (5 to 9 of august), the race will be on the UCI calendar for the next 4 years period.
Why the races after the Tour de France have been scheduled earlier you might ask yourself?
Well, it is to give enough time for the racers that want to compete to the last prestigious classic (Tour of Lombardie) of the season.
There are so many races these days that racers need to be more picky about their season, it is like being a "Gourmet" in front of a very attractive menu, you cannot eat all, you must choice what suit you and keep at it.
A one day classic is very different than a 3 weeks races, the racer needs to get back in shape but most importantly, rest time is very important.
